Lounge chair by Le Corbusier

A comfortable and practical lounge chair was invented in 1929 by three designers: Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand. In the course of time, this item of furniture was referred to by the name of the first designer. These long armchairs still enjoy popularity, though they were taken by the public with a pinch of salt.

Vienna chair

The Thonet factory still manufactures chairs which look like the legendary Vienna chair, though the modern models have a slightly different design. The original model was created 150 years ago. Barcelona style armchair

The armchair of this style was rolled out in 1929. The best contemporary designers still admire the invention of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The comfortable seat fits in lightweight seamless metal frames which make up steady criss-cross legs. The Barcelona style armchairs are in big demand among modern consumers.

Plates by Fornasetti

Renowned designer Piero Fornasetti created his own art in home design full of illusions, magic images, and bizarre fantasies. Among accessories, the author came up with unique tableware, including plates. His imagination invented over 350 models of ceramic plates, all of them bearing the portrait of Italian singer Lina Cavalieri. Exquisite home accessories still attract buyers with a sophisticated taste.

Arco floor lamp

The famous curved floor lamp Arco was designed in 1962 for the Italian manufacturer Flos. It still can be found in any modern apartment. To meet the demand, other manufacturers duplicate the Arco classical design. People immediately appreciated the practical shape of this floor lamp. It is still considered perfect.

This piece of furniture is extremely popular nowadays, though it was introduced in 1968 by Zanotta. These chairs have been in constant production since their original release. Alessi kitchenware company created a whistling kettle in 1983. It was cast in a particular hemispheric shape. Interestingly, a kettle’s whistle was invented in 1930-s in the US. However, a hemispheric shape of a kettle made it a best-seller around the world. Designers also admire the flawless shape of the kettle.

Taraxacum lamp

It is the most popular pendant lamp with an iconic shape. It consists of several aluminum triangles with plenty of light bulbs housed around the structure which make up a round shape of a flower. Some one nicknames it a dandelion. For others, the lamp resembles curly hair. Modern designers play with this idea, for example replacing round lamps with ones of a different shape. Nevertheless, the basic concept is a ball-like lamp created by Italian designer Achille Castiglioni.
