Sapa, Vietnam

Sapa is a small resort town spread in the northern mountains of Vietnam. Although there is no access to the sea, it is quite a popular tourist destination. Travelers are attracted by the local landscape beauty. Sapa is considered a kingdom of rice terraces. Here, emerald fields can be seen on undulating and cascading hills. From afar, these green steps resemble a giant staircase and create a mesmerizing sight.

Corcovado, Costa Rica

Corcovado is one of the largest national parks in Costa Rica. It is located in the Osa Peninsula and covers a huge area of more than 42,000 hectares. Almost all of its territory is covered by a pristine rainforest, which is characterized by biodiversity of woody plants and lianas. Today, there are about 500 species of trees in Corcovado. Cottonwood is the largest tree in the area. It can reach 3 meters in diameter and 70 meters in height.

Val d'Orcia, Italy

Val d'Orcia is a picturesque valley that stretches in central Italy (Tuscany). It covers an area of more than 18 thousand hectares. There are many gentle hills covered with lush vegetation. In particular, chestnut, cypress, oak, and beech trees grow here. In addition to wild trees, Val d'Orcia has huge plantations of agricultural crops such as olive trees and vineyards. Thanks to its harmonious green landscape, the Tuscan Valley became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.

Congo Basin, Central Africa

The Congo River flows through six African countries. Its basin is considered one of the largest in the world, and its rainforest is the third largest on the planet. It covers an area of 180 million hectares and has a very rich and diverse flora. Today, there are more than 11,000 plants there. The tropical forest of the Congo Basin is so dense that in some parts the sunlight cannot reach the ground.

Olympic Peninsula, US

On the peninsula, the shores of which are washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean, there is one of Washington’s national parks. It is characterized by an amazing variety of landscapes. Here, you can see mountains, waterfalls, rivers, alpine meadows, and endless forests with a huge number of plants, including endemics. The dominant species of the Olympic Peninsula are the Sitka spruce, western cedar, Oregon pine, and red cedar. There are also many species of mosses found in the local park.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The park is considered a tourist gem of the country. The main feature of this natural complex is a unique cascade of 16 lakes which are connected by foaming waterfalls. Greenery makes this place extremely attractive for tourists. There are beech trees, spruces, firs, and many other plants. Thanks to such a variety of flora, the water in the Plitvice Lakes seems to be emerald green.
