Vitebsky station (Saint Petersburg)
Vitebsky railway station in Saint Petersburg is the oldest one in Russia. It was built back in 1837. The very first passenger train in Russia departed from its platform. In 1904 the station was demolished, fully rebuilt and called the Vitebsk Station. It bears the features of Art Nouveau and has an impressive interior.
Railway station in Murom
The railway station in Murom is located in the southern part of the city and known as its hallmark. The station building constructed in the early XX century, resembles a cozy little mansion called terem. It is made in the neo-Russian style, which is presented in faceted towers at the edges of the building, stylish bay windows and porches.
This building is on the list of architectural monuments. At the station there is also a museum about the history of the station.
Station in Stary Oskol
The station of Stary Oskol was built in 1897. The town is famous because of the "Road of Courage", that is the railway between Stary Oskol – Rzhava created during a month in the period of the Great Patriotic War in preparation for the Battle of Kursk.
The station building looks different depending on the viewpoint. From the side of the city it's a four-storey building with a flat roof, and from the side of the ways it's a building with a non-standard pitched roof. The interior of the station is trimmed with marble.
Slyudyanka (Lake Baikal)
The Slyudyanka railway station leads visitors to the Russian water pearl – the lake Baikal. The town was named Slyudyanka after the mica deposits opened here in the XVII century. Slyudyanka became a railway settlement in 1899, during the construction of the Circum-Baikal Railway.
The station building is decorated with white and pink rare unpolished Baikal marble. It is the only railway station in Russia completely made of marble.
Kazan railway station (Kazan-1)
The Kazan-1 railway station is located in the center of Kazan. Because of this, tourists can easily reach the Kremlin, the river port and bus stations.
The railway station includes the suburban terminal, the main building and office space. Twelve years ago the building was reconstructed. Near the entrance there are two sculptures of snow leopards who are the symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan. In suburban terminal the wall shows a woman in national Tatar costume.
Yekaterinburg railway station
The station in Yekaterinburg is Russia's largest station after Moscow and Saint Petersburg's ones. The station was built in 1878, during the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The old station building is located next to the new one. There tourists can see the Museum of History, Science and Technology of Sverdlovsk railway.
Construction of the new building began in 1914. Sixteen years ago it has undergone a complete renovation. The renovated building was decorated with frescoes dedicated to the main events in the history of the Urals: the development of Siberia, Cherepanov brothers' steam engine establishment, execution of the royal family, Uralmash construction and so on.
Adler railway station
The construction of the new station building in Adler began 7 years ago. The project was developed by NPO Mostovik and German architects. The building was divided into marine and urban parts. Its roof was decorated with solar panels.
The capacity of the station in Adler is 3-5 thousand passengers per hour. Currently, it is one of the most modern and original stations in the Russian Federation.
